Platinum Selling Artist John Michael Montgomery

Punta Gorda’s Downtown Hoedown to Support the Troops is excited to announce that country artist John Michael Montgomery will headline our event in 2017.

John Michael Montgomery has turned an uncanny ability to relate to fans into one of country music’s most storied careers. Behind the string of hit records, the roomful of awards and the critical and fan accolades that have defined his phenomenal success lies a connection that goes beyond his undeniable talent and his proven knack for picking hits. Since the days when “Life’s A Dance” turned him from an unknown artist into a national star, John Michael’s rich baritone has carried that most important of assets–believability. Few artists in any genre sing with more heart than this handsome Kentucky-born artist.

It is readily apparent in love songs that have helped set the standard for a generation. Songs like “I Swear,” “I Love the Way You Love Me” and “I Can Love You Like That” still resonate across the landscape – pop icon and country newcomer Jessica Simpson cited “I Love The Way You Love Me” as an influence in a recent interview. It is apparent in the 2004 hit “Letters From Home,” one of the most moving tributes to the connection between soldiers and their families ever recorded, and in “The Little Girl,” a tale of redemption that plumbs both the harrowing and the uplifting. It is apparent even in the pure fun that has always found its way into John Michael’s repertoire–songs like “Be My Baby Tonight” and “Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident),” where John Michael’s vocal earnestness takes musical whimsy to another level.

Jack Michael

Joining John Michael Montgomery is Nashville recording artist Jack Michael. Jack grew up in Punta Gorda and is currently PCG Nashville Pro pursuing a singing and songwriting career. Several of his original songs such as “American Beauty”, “Our Town” and ”3 AM” have received critical acclaim in Nashville and are quickly becoming regional favorites.

Andy Pursell Band

Andy grew up in a small town of Arcadia Florida, known for its orange groves and cattle. He was raised on rock and roll on his mother’s side and 50’s and 60’s music on his father’s. The country side of music came from his friends he grew up with. With all of these factors in place, it was the perfect formula of the style of music Andy writes and sings about.

As for Andy’s song writing, it comes from the experiences he’s had and seen. Recently he’s been working in the studio making his songs come to life. In addition to the studio work, he’s been playing his music live in local venues and loving every minute of it!

Jason Brownie

The Punta Gorda native has roots that run deep in Charlotte County, and a voice that most everyone around has heard at some point or another. Jason says he’s been singing since before he could talk, taught himself guitar at age 14, and started his very first band called Undertow at 15. He has since been in the bands “Laurie’s Divorce” and the more popular, “Shades Of Gray” – but recently decided to get back in touch with his country upbringing with his latest solo project.

Olivia Gruber

Originally from Vienna, Austria, but enjoying living in Florida for the past three years  Olivia is a fifteen years old Phenom, playing the guitar since the age of five and writing her first song at 12 years old.  She currently has a great YouTube following and can be seen performing live in the Naples Area.  Her indie-folk persona and unique style  makes her a up and coming artist to watch.
